Roberto Lara
Roberto Lara is the CEO of Castillo Hermanos, an international business group with more than 139 years of constant evolution. Its purpose of: “Combining innovation and passion to share and celebrate every moment of your life generating wellness and sustainable development”, has given the Group a presence in more than 35 countries where its brands have conquered consumers of all ages and preferences.
Castillo Hermanos’ leadership reaches a wide range of businesses including beer, bottled water, carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, food, packaging, retail and real estate. Its brand portfolio includes more than 75 innovative and high quality brands such as Cerveza Gallo, known in the United States as Famosa, Señorial, Raptor and Del Frutal, among others. Moreover, the Group has partnerships with Heineken, Grupo Pascual of Spain, Arizona Beverages and Tampico Beverages of the United States.
Roberto joined the company in 2003. Prior to his current role, he was the Group’s corporate vice president, being responsible of strategic planning, M&A, IT, finance, legal and energy, among others. In his role as CEO, he has led strategic initiatives to ensure the leadership and growth of the Group, including digital transformation, sustainability, and innovation. He is deeply motivated by the growth and development of the more than 21,000 collaborators and their families that are part of Castillo Hermanos.
During his career, he has led several mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and transformation projects.
He was a professor at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, teaching M&A and investments courses.
Before joining Castillo Hermanos, Roberto worked as a financial analyst in JPMorgan's Latin America Mergers and Acquisitions Group in New York.
He graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, has a Master's Degree in Business Economics from Universidad Francisco Marroquín and a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He is a board member of The Pantaleón Group Inc., Frutiagro and United Way Guatemala and a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
