How to Treat Body Breakouts

Our favorite products for blemish prone skin serve double duty as body treatments to banish breakouts, no matter where they pop up. Check out our tips to treat body breakouts for your best summer skin.

Step 1

Cleanse

Cleansing is key when it comes to blemished skin. Purge pores of dirt, sweat, and impurities with a non-stripping cleanser like Ocean Cleansing Mudd. Doubling as a body wash, this purifying cleanser uses organic Tea Tree and Peppermint and decongesting Laminaria seaweed to deeply cleanse pores and leave an invigorating tingle on the skin.

Step 2

Exfoliate

Because most blemishes need a build-up of dead skin cells to take root, gentle exfoliation is one of the most effective tools in your breakout busting toolkit. A body scrub like Salts of the Earth provides a gentle physical exfoliation to slough away build-up. In addition to a gentle scrub, treat skin 1-2 times per week with an enzymatic exfoliation. Fruit enzymes from Fig and Pumpkin polish and cleanse skin to keep breakouts at bay.

Step 3

Target & Treat

Spot solutions and clarifying masks are great for any skin in need of some TLC. 2-3 times a week apply a mask to blemished skin to draw out impurities. Our Red Algae Clarifying Mask uses three red seaweeds, plus bentonite clay to draw out impurities and remove excess oils, without stripping. For a spot solution you can wear all day, the Essential Corrective Complex provides a non-drying, purifying blend of Tea Tree, White Thyme, and Juniper.

Pro Tip

Up Your Laundry Game

Sheets, towels, and clothing can contribute to breakouts by trapping bacteria and impurities against the skin. Keep your clothes and linens clean with an unscented, natural detergent and rotate your sheets and towels often. If you’re active, change out of sweaty clothes, especially tight or compression clothing like leggings and sports bras, and shower with a purifying cleanser as quickly as possible.
